School Bus Safety - A Reminder For Everyone

School Bus Safety - A Reminder For Everyone

A reminder to all students and families about the importance of following safety expectations when travelling on our school bus networks. We all have a responsibility to support these services and the people who use them to ensure everyone arrives at school safely and gets home just as safely each day.

Please remember the basics of bus safety:

  • Always wear your seatbelt.

  • Remain seated at all times while the bus is moving.

  • Do not move around the bus while it is travelling.

  • Do not eat on the bus. We have had occasions where significant mess has been left behind, so we ask all students to help keep the buses clean.

These are simple but important expectations that everyone should follow on every journey. Travelling to and from school is an important part of the school day, and we need all students to take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.

We also ask everyone to be respectful and supportive of our hardworking bus drivers. They have an important responsibility in transporting students safely each day, and following their instructions helps them do their job effectively.

What is Gaga?

Gaga is an exciting, fast-paced ball game that is a little like dodgeball, but with a few important differences! Played in an enclosed area called a Gaga pit, the aim is to hit the ball with an open hand and try to strike other players below the knees. If a player is hit below the knees, they leave the game, and the last player remaining is the winner!

Gaga is easy to learn, keeps everyone moving and encourages students to develop their coordination, agility and reaction skills. It is also a great way to practise sportsmanship, cooperation and playing fairly with others.

We are looking forward to seeing our students enjoy our two new Gaga pits at the 298 Campus. Check out the YouTube clip below to see how the game works and learn the rules before joining in!
